Takamatsu is more than a lively port town facing the inland sea, it is home to Ritsurin Garden, one of Japan’s finest landscape gardens full of seasonal beauty year round. Ritsurin Garden is a superb cultural asset that conveys the characteristics of the 17th and 18th century Daimyo strolling garden. The garden design makes the scenery change with each step. Mt. Shiun is a backdrop for blossoming flowers. Six Ponds and 13 landscaped hills are expertly constructed over a vast tract of land. Enjoy a leisurely walk around to appreciate one the finest.

Three of the sacred 88 temples of Shikoku Henro can be found here, Negoroji, Kokubunji and Shiromineji, which holds the tomb of Japanese emperor Sutoku (1119-1164).
