Lough Key is northeast of the town of Boyle, County Roscommon. The lough, or lake, is believed to be named after a mythical figure named Cé, druid of the god Nuada. Islands of Trinity, Castle, Church, Green and Orchard populate this intriguing location, an apparent hotspot for UFO activity.

This amazing place in the heart of Ireland was selected by Coillte’s, the government forestry business to host a flagship visitor destination. At Lough Key Activity Park expect fun activities with spectacular views, exuberant wildlife, and historic buildings.
Do fun outdoor challenges Zipit or Woodland Segways, take the tree canopy trail to walk on the tree tops, take tunnels around Rockingham House, cycle around the forest and woodland. Get a team together for 15 mental quests and 47 physical challenges at Boda Borg, a weather independent Swedish concept unique to Ireland.
There are some lovely cycle paths throughout the 800 acre parkland and forest and the newly constructed Boyle to Lough Key Cycleway. Walking trails tour the 19th century parkland with majestic trees, follies, bridges and canals to the numerous walks and trails through the native woodlands, Bog Garden and forests.
Nestled at the foot of the Curlew Mountains, between Lough Gara and Lough Key is the town of Boyle . A thriving market town, visit the Bridgestone Award winning Courtyard Market, every Saturday from 10am-2pm for an array of artisan foods, crafts and organic produce, is held in the charming grounds of King House.
