Ireland’s longest river, bubbles to the surface at The Shannon Pot a pool in the karst landscape near Cuilcagh Mountain in County Cavan. Located along the Blacklion to Glangevlin Road (R206) in West County Cavan, approximately 50 minutes away from Killeshandra. Walk along the Cavan Way a long-distance walking route from Blacklion to Dowra.
This location can be traced back to the legendary Finn MacCool and the Fianna, the great warriors of Irish mythology. Legend has it that it is named after Síonnan, the daughter of Lodan, a son of the Celtic God of the Sea, Lír. Discover the myths and legends that surround the sacred pool.
